I found searching the Internet for photography courses quite frustrating. So I have launched this site to make it easier for you to find what you are looking for. It seemed as if details of different courses were all over the place and it wasn’t until I had visited individual sites and read through the course contents that I knew the course was either of no interest to me or I found one for the shortlist. Now and again I would find a little group of photography courses that I thought would be of interest only to find that they were being taught on the other side of the world.

To make it easier to find what you are looking for I have created three different methods of searching through the photography courses. You can find a course by ability level, location or by subject. I hope that you are able to find what you are looking for with just a few clicks of the mouse.

It doesn’t matter what your current level of ability is or how long you have owned a camera for there is always something new to learn. If you have just bought or been given your first camera then there are a range of courses for you to select from. There is probably no better or quicker way to get to grips with your camera then taking a course. At this stage I would recommend a basic course that covers the fundamentals of using a camera and composing a photograph. You can decide later if there are particular areas that you wish to specialise in, but having a solid grasp of the basics will stand you in good stead no matter what path you choose to follow.

If you are completely new to photography and have yet to buy a camera then I would strongly recommend that you find a tutor who will recommend the equipment that you need to get started. Do this before you dive in at the deep end and buy all the latest gear from the local shop (and I am sure that they will be only too pleased to sell you the entire store). You can always add to your gear later. It is a lot more expensive to buy it first and then unload it when you find half of it is surplus to requirements.

If you are considering becoming a professional photographer or selling you images then don’t overlook the courses that cover the business side of professional photography and marketing in particular. There are plenty of budding star photographers out there who could make a good living out of their work if only they knew who to contact and where to start selling.

When choosing a course always take care whether the course is online, distance learning or just round the corner from you. A good course can make all the difference to your enjoyment of photography while a bad one is money down the drain. Always try and check out the tutor and ask to see examples of their own work and the work of students who have completed the course. This should be easy enough through the Internet. Don’t be shy and make sure you ask for contact details of recent students who can tell you what to expect on the course so that you can work out if it is right for you or not.

I am sure that the site can be improved, so please mail me with any suggestions. If you offer photography courses then email me the details and I will add them to the list as soon as I can. The aim of the site is to provide the largest searchable database of photography courses on the Internet.

Any feedback on photography courses that you have taken is also more than welcome. The last thing that I want is for someone to find details of a course on this site, take up the course and then be disappointed. Likewise if there are any highly recommended photography courses missing from the list mail me so that I can add them and improve the standard.

    Thank you for using Photography
